    Abstract

    This work describes the ultrasonic inspection of silicon carbide whisker and particulate reinforced aluminum metal matrix composite billets, extrusions, forgings, and rolled plate and sheet. Inspection techniques will be described and results discussed including metallographic analysis of flaws. A correlation will be made between billet attributes and extrusion results.
