Abstract

A method of seal lifetime prediction has been developed using time-temperature superposition to detemine the functional relationships between compression set and the accelerating variables, that is, temperature, dose, and dose rate. Using this technique, seal lifetimes under service conditions can be predicted even when the elastomer exhibits dose rate effects or synergism between radiation and temperature.
