It is conceived as a tool among many others in the global field of aging building management. Its components are: physical inspection, performance testing, diagnosis, selection of corrective measures, cost estimates, and reports. Interrelations between each of those components are described, as well as those between the assessment process and building management. The use of computers in the development of an integrated expert system is also discussed. In closing, this paper considers the need for research and development in such areas as building performance testing, quantitative data on durability and performance, and theoretical models of building representation. | ||
