Comparison of High-Temperature Tension Testing Results of Ceramic Fibers

Source

Data on the tensile strength and modulus properties at high temperatures of three commercial ceramic reinforcement fibers were collected from several sources and compared. Differences in specimen geometries, test conditions, atmospheres, and procedures were noted and their probable effects on data variations considered. Suggestions for improving the uniformity of testing procedures and the acceptability of high-temperature mechanical test data for fibers are proposed.
