Abstract

Testing of artificial and natural turf should be an integral part of the purchasing process to maximize the cost-effectiveness of the purchase of these sports playing surfaces. Subsequently, annual testing of the installed surfaces is necessary to ascertain and control the safety performance of these systems. An additional benefit is that hard numbers are generated which can be used to project the usable life of the sports playing surface. These projections are useful for budgeting considerations.
