Abstract

The so-called “Compaction Grouting” technique is now being used in France under various names. Due to a large research programme launched a few years ago, Soletanche was in a position to develop a more scientific approach to this process when it is used as a soil improvement method.

This paper describes the various rules used for design with their background and gives an example of a lateral static densification job.

The positive role of microshearing in sandy soil and that of solid mortar columns in clayey soils is described.
