Abstract

The vibro replacement technique for constructing stone columns was first used in Europe in the late 1950's and has been used extensively for ground improvement work in the United Kingdom for over twenty five years. Testing of ground improvement work is a vital ingredient of the construction process, and this paper sets out current British developments.
