    Abstract

    This paper states the function, the architecture and the establishment of an atmospheric corrosion database for materials. A relational data structure is used for the database design. The system can collect, arrange and store vast amounts of atmospheric corrosion data for ferrous and non-ferrous metals materials and coatings under eight different climate conditions of the whole country, and supply fourteen kinds of report forms. The advantages of the system are that it is convenient to operate and easy to master. It has been used in China to compile the results of Chinese research on atmospheric corrosion and protection.
