Abstract

The development and commercial status of the Thiosorbic lime wet flue gas desulfurization (FGD) process is described. Addition of magnesium oxide to lime used for FGD significantly improves sulfur dioxide (SO2) removal and reliability. Overall costs for a Thiosorbic lime FGD system are competitive with FGD systems based on limestone.
