Abstract

The evaluation of valid static fracture criteria in radiation embrittlement research and surveillance measurement is always difficult due to the limited size of the specimens. Test series have been performed to evaluate the optimum side-grooving of the Charpy-size three-point bend (TPB) specimens and a method has been elaborated for using the remnants of broken Charpy specimens for measurements of energy criteria, Absorbed Specific Fracture until Energy (ASFE).
