Abstract

Results are presented of a series of experimental tests performed to determine the influence of matrix characteristics on the leaching mechanism of lithium immobilized into cementitious matrices. A dynamic leaching test, using a fixed leachant renewal schedule proposed by the American Nuclear Society, was adopted. Experimental results showed the influence of the matrix characteristics on the different phases of the leaching. A hypothesis on the leaching mechanism from the cementitious matrices is proposed.
