Abstract

The plant bioassay described herein is one of the modules of the decision-making framework developed by the U.S. Army Engineer Waterways Experiment Station for evaluating sediments before dredging. Collection and preparation of sediments are described as well as conduct of the plant bioassay. The bioassay is appropriate for estimating mobility of contaminants into the environment through plant uptake in wetland, marsh environments as well as drier agricultural-type upland conditions.
