Abstract

European standards are required for protective clothing for the free trade of these products in the European internal market. The procedure is explained how to produce a European standard as well as the structure of the technical committee CEN/TC 162 standardizing protective clothing and gloves. Following is a detailed survey of the standard program in this committee. Preliminary results are presented concerning completed drafts, sizing, marking etc. Furthermore it is shown how the results of ISO standardization are adopted in European standardization of protective clothing.
