Abstract

Immunochemical technology is being used to solve problems in environmental chemistry. Immunoassays such as the enzyme-linked immunosorbent (ELISA) are sensitive bioanalytical procedures applicable to many classes of compounds. Immunoassays employ specific antibodies as receptor molecules for target analytes. Many different immunoassay formats have been developed to detect pesticides and other environmental contaminants. Immunoassay is an analytical technique that offers many advantages and can augment chromatographic analyses.
