Abstract

We report the results of measurement of laser induced surface damage threshold of wire grid polarizers at 10.6 μm as a function of orientation of the wires and polarization of light. We also measured the absorption of wire grids at 10.6 μm, 1.06, and 0.53 μm. The results of surface damage thresholds are consistent with the results of absorption measurements and theory.
