    Abstract

    The oscillation efficency of the slab laser has been improved with sol-gel coating film containing methyl radicals. Methyl radical in the silica coating film, effectively improves adherence and decreases refractive index(l.3756),removes pinholes and thereby improves chemical durability and mechanical strength. The sol-gel coating film was applied on the laser glass slab. The oscillation experiments showed the laser glass slab with the coating film has 1.85 times higher output energy and 2.3 times higher slope efficiency as the laser slab without the coating film.
