Abstract

The paper presents a review of some sampling techniques for soft ocean sediments. The review includes a few new developments, which have been the result of recent waste disposal research programs. Emphasis of the paper is put on the problem of sample disturbance. Various sources of disturbance are discussed. The principles of sampler design are examined on their ability to eliminate such causes of disturbance
