Abstract

As a tool for inspecting aerial devices, acoustic emission (AE), has gained wide popularity and is one of the preferred techniques to be used when performing safety inspections on these vehicles. Many utilities, truck manufacturers and independent testing companies rely on AE as a primary screening technique when evaluating vehicle integrity. AE testing has proven to be a valuable tool in determining structural integrity of both fiber-glass and metal components of the aerial device.
