Abstract

A low volatile silicone cleaning/priming solution was evaluated in comparison with a variety of organic cleaning solvents and one organic solvent based primer. The evaluation also reviewed a wide variety of substrates, sealants, and surface contaminations. In virtually all situations the use of the silicone cleaner/primer alternative to organic solvents actually helped promote sealant adhesion better than all other solvents evaluated.
