Abstract

In this paper we show how it is possible to use a medical scanner to study damage inside polymer composites reinforced by long fibers. Several examples including compression damage, tension damage, and impact damage are given for glass fiber and carbon fiber reinforced polymer composites. Most of the internal damage can be observed using X-ray tomography.
