    Abstract

Recent studies and publications have discussed methods of improving fatigue life in welded structures. The writer investigates the mechanism for fatigue failures in weldments as well as the data supporting various post-weld treatments. The paper will deal in depth with the control of these processes and how to achieve consistent improvements in post-weld treatments.
