Abstract

Calculational-experimental methodology is used for radiation exposure determination of WWER-1000 reactor pressure vessels operating in Ukraine. It includes numerical neutron transport calculations within reactor near-vessel space and ex-vessel dosimetry measurements at operating units. Fluxes, spectra and neutron fluences with En>0.5 MeV onto surveillance specimens of WWER-1000 reactor pressure vessel metal are determined by calculations. Program packages DETA and MCSS are designed in the Scientific Center “Institute for Nuclear Research” for the neutron transport calculations within reactor near-vessel space and at the locations of surveillance specimens in WWER-1000 reactor. Maximal neutron fluences onto the upper shell base metal of Khmelnitskaya Nuclear Power Plant (NPP) Unit 1 reactor pressure vessel are determined over the first ten fuel cycles. A number of irradiation parameters for surveillance specimens of first and second control term of Khmelnitskaya NPP Unit 1 and South-Ukrainian NPP Unit 3 reactor pressure vessel metal are calculated.
