Uncertainty in the fluence estimate has a direct impact on the integrity assessment and on the operating limits of the reactors, and must be limited. The required precision is discussed in the light of practical examples. The review concludes that the fast neutron fluence statistical accuracy of 15 to 20% is sufficient and can be achieved in most important cases, at least in Western PWRs. Regarding VVER reactors, there are situations when such accuracy is not achieved, systematic biases are expected and careful benchmarking is necessary.
