Abstract
The preservation of a small, wooden miners cottage in New Jersey presents an opportunity to evaluate several important issues in historic preservation, including the role of a historic interpretive period versus the survival of the architectural fabric, and the merits of preserving the original fabric versus the replacement of elements to achieve an integrated whole.
