    Abstract

The diffraction patterns of amorphous solids produced by both a conventional technique and fast neutron irradiation were systematized. The diffraction patterns of the substances of these classes differ essentially. It was first ever shown that neutron radiation modified solids belong to the group of amrophous substances of a distortion type.

    Keywords:

neutron irradiation, atomic displacement cascade, long- and short-range atomic order, amorphous state, X-ray and neutron diffraction
