Abstract

The creep and wear behaviors of pressed ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene (UHMWPE), extruded UHMWPE, and modified UHMWPE were compared by means of testing the following materials: GUR 1150 pressed, GUR 1150 extruded, and GUR 1120 pressed with 0.1% Vitamin E. Using the ring-on-disc method, the wear and deformation volumes for 360 000 cycles and 1 million cycles were determined. A static universal testing device was used to determine the deformation behaviors of the several materials, while the testing time corresponded to that of the ring-on-disc tests.
