Abstract

Recently in the pesticide industry in Japan, it has become considerably more desirable to develop products that are safer both for workers and the environment. Moreover, number of farm workers of advanced age and women have gradually increased. Therefore, it is also desirable to develop more efficient and more labor-saving formulations and application technologies in order to make agricultural work lighter. for these purposes, various promising formulations have been developed such as flowable formulations for direct application, water dispersible granules, microcapsules, jumbo herbicides, 1 kg granules, water surface spreading formulations, seedling box treatment, fertilizers containing pesticides, and physical controlling methods. These formulations are reviewed, and their advantages and trends are discussed.
