Abstract
A New software for the estimation of the fatigue crack initiation life in notched components has been developed, based on the local strain approach. This new implementation includes a short crack model. The crack driving force is evaluated by means of the stress intensity factor range for short cracks emanating from the notch, and by using an intrinsic crack growth law. A graphical user interface (GUI) has been implemented, that facilitates identification of coefficients for the strain-life curve and the stress-strain curve. The aim of this paper is to present a progress report about this software, indicating the new features and possible future improvements.
