Abstract
The Adjuvants and Inerts Committee (AIC) of the Chemical Producers and Distributors Association (CPDA) has, in cooperation with the EPA Office of Pesticide Programs (OPP) Inerts group, undertaken a project to codify the inert list. The AIC approach is to combine similar chemicals into families and develop a common chemical descriptor for the family along with CAS numbers. The result is a searchable database that provides an easy and time saving way to identify inerts. Examples are presented of the chemical families identifited and descriptors proposed.
