A Review of Photofission Measurements

Source

Fission reactions used as threshold detectors for fast neutron dosimetry can also be induced by gamma-ray photons. In the environment near a water reactor pressure vessel there are neutron-capture gamma rays with energies above the photofission threshold. Many measurements have been made of photofission cross sections in the energy region near the threshold of these reactions. These measurements are reviewed.
