Abstract

Solid-state track recorder (SSTR) neutron dosimetry sets have been installed in the reactor cavity region of several commercial light water reactors for exposures during normal operating cycles. Analyses of SSTR sets which have been exposed for one operating cycle at four commercial light water reactors have been completed. Quality assurance procedures are in place and have been verified with neutron irradiations of representative dosimeters in NBS benchmark neutron fields.

Cavity dosimetry results to date indicate that 2 to 5% uncertainties in the measurements of neutron-induced cavity dosimetry fission rates are routinely achievable, provided that adequate quality control procedures are used.
