This chapter defines the quality function’s place in the organization, and how the quality function interacts with all other functions within an organization. The relationships between the quality manual, procedures, work instructions, and quality records are explained. Detailed examples are provided on the construction of procedures and work instructions. Responsibilities for quality are discussed, and guidance is provided for the various functions within an organization including marketing, engineering, manufacturing/production, and quality. Detailed guidance on a quality manual is provided in Chapter 8.
