Abstract

The basic properties of the phases in the system Ca2SO4–H2O, which includes aspects of dihydrate, hemihydrate, soluble anhydrite, such as the solubilities and crystallographic structures. The role of water vapor pressure with regard to soluble anhydrite formation is emphasized. Further discussed are aging and the misconceptions such as the 2∕3 hydrate and colloidal processes during setting.
