Without careful consideration during the planning phase, the implementation and assessment phases may result in data that are not of sufficient quantity and quality to meet study objectives. To facilitate the planning phase, EPA developed the Data Quality Objectives (DQO) process [1]. ASTM has further refined the process and included additional examples of DQO applications related to waste management activities [2].
