Abstract

Different procedures are described for evaluating v-KI curves of subcritical crack growth from lifetime measurements under static load for natural and artificial cracks. The lifetimes for a 99.6% A12O3 are evaluated as an example of application. Results for small natural cracks and artificial Knoop cracks are compared, and a rather good agreement of the v-K curves is observed.
