Abstract

A simple method of calculating the relaxation time (τ) from a direct-current eddy-current decay signal is developed. The solution for τ: τ=Δtln[V1V2V2V3] requires only that the three voltage (V)-time (t) sets be separated by equal time intervals (Δt), and be within the simple exponential region of the decay curve. The result is useful for electrical resistivity measurements taken by the eddy-current decay method.
