Abstract

With the expansion of the Internet an increased amount of digital information, such as documents, images, and audio and video data has become available to a large number of people. Since the digital network is often used to offer digital media for profit, there is a strong need for copyright protection and a considerable interest in methods for inserting in a multimedia document a visible, or preferably invisible, mark to identify the owner. This article provides an overview of watermarking properties, and an evaluation of different embedding domains besides different applications. A survey of them and their respective requirements is presented.
