Abstract

A new method for assessing the damage in laminated composites upon ballistic impact has been suggested. The proposed method, called infiltration radiography, consists of impregnating a semisolid lubricant mixed with fine metallic powder deep into the damage caused by bullets. The effect of metal content on the quality of image has been studied to determine the minimum required amount of metal powder. The influence of radiographic parameters such as voltage, current, and exposure time has also been studied.
