Abstract

This introduction is provided as an overview of the papers included in this section of the Journal and to provide a context for reviewing these papers for the regular readers of the Journal. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) entered into a partnership with ASTM (Committee F-12 on Security Systems and Equipment) to conduct the Sixth International Civil Aviation Security Conference (AVSEC'93), held on 26–28 October 1993 in Washington, DC. The objective of this conference was to provide a forum for government, the aviation industry, and security service providers to exchange insights on solutions to the global challenge of providing safe and secure air travel.
