Abstract

Compatibility (or Inter-Reactivity) charts provide a rapid and straightforward approach to the plant-wide dissemination of hazards associated with the inadvertent mixing of chemicals. This paper will describe The Dow Chemical Company's approach to the building and use of these charts. Incorporation of compatibility charts in safety and routine process chemistry training and for hazard evaluation will also be described. The benefits of using a personal computer to generate uniform charts will be addressed.
