Abstract

Errors of measurement and the imprecision and inaccuracy of instruments are defined with the aid of appropriate statistical analyses often required in such a treatment. Techniques are given for estimating and characterizing the parameters related to precision and accuracy of measurement. The concepts are highlighted with illustrative examples of the methodology, and useful precision and accuracy statements are advanced.
