Abstract

The design principles and main features of a deadweight standard hardness testing machine developed at the Instituto di Metrologia “G. Colonnetti” are described. Vickers and Brinell tests with deadweights ranging from 10 to 187.5 kg may be performed on the machine, which is built mainly for Rockwell A, B, and C scales.
