Modification of the Thermobalance Method of Clay Determination and Analysis of Clay Mixtures

Abstract

The normal method of determining the clay content in a sample using X-ray/thermobalance was modified to enable a larger number of tests to be carried out simultaneously. The method was applied to study interaction effects in clay mixtures of bentonite (50% montmorillonite), chlorite, illite, and kaolinite.
