Abstract
The fatigue life of copper can be extended by intermittently electroplating layers of nickel onto the copper. By electroplating every 25% of the anticipated life, the fatigue life of copper cyclically stressed at ± 14 500 psi (± 99 974 kPa) can be extended indefinitely.
