Abstract

Fiber-reinforced polymer (FRP) composite bars are corrosion-proof and provide relatively high strength levels when compared with ordinary steel reinforcement. This study aims to provide comprehensive testing techniques that cover a wide range of FRP bar properties. Techniques and tests to determine mechanical properties of FRP bars such as tensile, flexural, compressive, shear, and bond strength were the scope of this study. Linear thermal shrinkage, creep, and fatigue tests were also considered in this research. Newly-developed instruments were used to conduct the developed tests. Most of the developed and modified tests present consistent results that make them good candidates to evaluate characteristics of FRP rods.
