Cenospheres are being used in various industrial applications mainly due to their low density, high crushing strength and good thermal and electrical insulation properties. However, for better and most effective usage of cenospheres as a filler material, it is essential to determine their crushing characteristics. With this in view, efforts were made to develop a methodology which can be employed for determining crushing strength of cenospheres easily. Details of the methodology are presented in this technical note, and its efficiency has been demonstrated by conducting pycnometric studies on cenospheres.
