Correlation Between Charpy Absorbed Energy Using 2 mm and 8 mm Strikers

Abstract

A method to investigate the correlation between KV₂ and KV₈ based on the absorbed energy-temperature curve is reported in this paper. Two cases are considered in the method: (1) a case where specimens are broken into two pieces, and (2) a case where the percentage of shear fracture is studied. If a specimen is broken into two parts, there are no significant differences in the KV₂ and KV₈ results. However, if a specimen is not broken into two parts, the KV₈ is significantly higher than KV₂.
