Abstract

Tests to characterize the shear strength of geosynthetic interfaces under low confinement pressure were carried out on an instrumented inclined plane apparatus designed at Lirigm. The apparatus was validated through repeatability and reproducibility tests carried out as part of the European project to standardize geosynthetic interface tests. Typical results obtained for geosynthetics of different textures are presented and discussed. Finally, interface test results obtained using the direct shear box under normal confinement pressure and on an inclined plane under low confinement pressure were compared and assessed.
