A Hydrogeologic View of Waste Disposal in the Shallow Subsurface

Abstract

This paper discusses waste disposal in the shallow subsurface, that is, landfills. Emphasis is placed on the soil and groundwater regime. The paper can be considered to be a position paper and, therefore, general guidelines and principles are presented, as opposed to specific technical details or design procedures.
