Abstract

Minimum test specimen masses are recommended for gradation analysis testing. The specimen is based on the accuracy required and the maximum particle size present in the soil being tested. For gradation analyses to be reported to the nearest 1 percentage point, the minimum test specimen mass should be at least 100 times the mass of an idealized maximum size particle.
